Diana Salazar (born 1972) is a Mexican artist whose career has been divided between production and teaching since 1995. She mainly works in painting, but also in photography, printing and ceramics. His work has been recognized with membership to Mexico Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte as well as grants and awards.

Life and education

Diana Salazar was born in Mexico City in 1972. She started her studies at Escuela Nacional de Artes PlÃÆ'¡sticas (today's Faculty of Art and Discipline) of Mexico's National Autonomous University (abbreviated in Spanish, UNAM), earned a bachelor's degree in 1994 and his master in art history at UNAM in 1999. As a scholar, he specializes in painting, photography, and gravure printing. His master's thesis is "De la foto la pintura, Influencias de la visiÃÆ' fotn fotogrÃÆ'¡fica en la mirada pictÃÆ'³rica." These studies are supported by JÃÆ'³venes Creadores scholarships received in 1995-1996 and 2000-2001, along with one from the UNAM Foundation.

In 1999, he went to teach Spanish in Paris for a year at the Academy d CrÃÆ' Â © teil under contract with the French Ministry of Education. While in France he created a series of paintings based on life in Paris that produced exhibitions and printed catalogs.

He is currently studying for his doctorate in art and design at the Facultad de Arte y DiseÃÆ' Â ± o with his tentative thesis entitled "Desarrollo de un seminario de pintura ContemporÃÆ'¡nea. Propuestas en torno a la enseÃÆ' Â ± anza de la pintura" (Development from seminars in contemporary paintings Proposal for painting design).

He currently lives in Mexico City.

Careers

Salazar's career has been divided between painting and teaching, which he says "jealous" with each other, but that they also enrich each other.

He began teaching at UNAM in 1995, mainly basic-level courses in visualization, graphic representation techniques, image analysis and forms. Since 2006, he has co-ordinated contemporary painting seminars at school and in 2008, began teaching at master's level, mainly painting in the Arts and Design program, after directing over fifty research and artistic projects. He has also given classes to other public and private institutions in Mexico.

His career as an artist also began in 1995 with his first individual exhibition at Alianza Francesa in the San ÃÆ' ngel neighborhood of Mexico City. Since then, he has held more than fifty individual and collective exhibitions in Mexico, North America, Europe, and South America.

His personal exhibitions include the Museo de Arte Popular in Mexico City (2014), Fugaces GalerÃÆ'a Arte Actual Mexicano in Monterrey (2008), Casa de Francia in Mexico City (2004), GalerÃÆ'a de Arte ContemporÃÆ'¡neo y DiseÃÆ' Â ± o in Puebla ( 2004), The Other Gallery in Alberta, Canada, GalerÃÆ'a Calakmul in Mexico City (2002), GalerÃÆ'a de Ciencias y Artes in Hermosillo, Sonora (1998) and ENAP (1996). Important collective exhibits include the Centro de las Artes in Monterrey (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012), Mexican Cultural Institute in San Antonio, Texas (2007), Centro Nacional de las Artes (2003, 2005) (2002), Museo de la Ciudad de MÃ © xico (2002), Mairie de Bagnolet in France (2000) and Bienal Art of Iberoamerica (2002), Mexico City (2002), Tamaulipas First Biennal Art (2003), Salta de Octubre in Guadalajara first in Lima, Peru.

Salazar also works with Uriarte Talavera to make ceramic pieces with his own design.

His artwork has been recognized with membership in Sistema Nacional de Creadores de Arte from CONACULTA (2012-2015), along with mentioning honors at XXIII National Art Encounter in 2003 and residency at the Banff Center for the Arts in Canada. In 2001 he won the Acquisition prize at SalÃÆ'³n de Octubre in Guadalajara and mentioned his honor at the first INDART Painting Competition.
