Cedric Alessandro Chambers is a Bolivian American oil painter known for his controversial painting The Prophets. Some have compared the painting to the controversial 1987 photograph "Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano.

Cedric Chambers graduated from Metro State University with a bachelor's degree in Fine Art. He was represented by La Chita Galeria De Tu Novia Abuela located in Bolivia and the Denver Art Society.

In November 2012, Chambers created the controversial painting "The Prophets". The artwork depicts Star Wars fictional character Darth Vader carrying Jesus from the ruins of the formerly-known Twin Towers in New York City that were destroyed in the September 11 attacks. The painting has been rated by several critics as one of the most offensive paintings ever created. After creating the painting and receiving national attention, Chambers became reclusive and continued to hone his craft.

Biography

Cedric Chambers was born on June 16, 1990 in the city where he resides, Denver, Colorado. Chambers is a photographer and painter. In an interview, Chambers revealed that his father gave him the name "Cedric" so he wouldn't have to pick a pseudonym.

While attending Chatfield Senior Highschool, Chambers focused on painting a series of paintings of Communist leaders contrasted in Angelic poses. In 2006, at age 16 Chambers was the youngest member of the Ken Caryl Art Guild. By 2007 Chambers was regularly selling his artwork on eBay with the occasional international buyer. In 2008 Cedric enrolled in Colorado State University to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering but dropped out by 2010.

Chambers spent the majority of his free time in college painting and reading the psychoanalytic literature by Slavovj Zizek. In 2010 Chambers created a mixed media painting called "The Subconscious Wish" which was featured on DIEHIPSTER.com.

In 2013 Chambers started donating paintings to "Project Worthmore", a charity which works helps Burmese Refugees integrate into society. That Spring, Chambers had his first two-person show at the Denver Art Society. That winter Chambers was featured in the Huffington Post for creating the "most offensive painting ever". During the following months he was featured in List 25 and had an interview with FilterFreeAmerika.

In 2014, Chambers was hired as a social media specialist for the Nobel Peace Prize Nominated One Billion Acts of Peace Campaign. That same year he enrolled in Metro State University's Bachelors of Fine Arts program. Chambers started honing his craft and creating metamodern realistic artwork.

In 2016 Chambers joined the co-op NEXT Gallery just before earning his bachelor's degree. That same year he had his first solo show and was accepted into the Oil Painters of America national art guild. After years of trying, in 2016 Chambers became a Huffington Post Contributor who writes about art and philosophy.

In 2017 Chambers was accepted by the International Guild of Realism, an exclusive guild whose goal is to "recognize the best realists working today".
