Charles Arnoldi , also known as Chuck Arnoldi and as Charles Arthur Arnoldi are American painter, sculptor, and artist. He was born April 10, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio.
While visiting grandma's girlfriend in New York, she took the opportunity to see the works of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning. Observing their stains, stains, and imperfections, he felt that he was also capable of doing such work, and decided to attend an art school. Arnoldi attended Ventura College in Ventura, California, where a professor convinced him to register to the Art Center in Los Angeles. He was accepted with a scholarship, and enrolled in a commercial illustration class. It was the late 1960s, and Arnoldi recalled the choking class environment in which male students were asked to wear ties. After just two weeks, he left and moved to the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1968, where he stayed for eight months before deciding to leave his formal education and complete his training through his art training. Arnoldi began using tree branches as an element of composition in his work, combined with paintings to make the construction of a stick. These works do not seek to create illusions but physical space inhabited.
In the early 1970s, artists drew attention to wooden relief wall sculptures, such as Honeymoons in the Honolulu Museum of Art collection. He held his first solo exhibition at the Riko Mizuno Gallery in Los Angeles in 1971. The following year he was included in Documenta V, Kassel, Germany, 1972. In 1977, he had his first bronze statue made of bronze. Roark , in the Honolulu Museum of Art collection, is a monumental example of this technique. The use of wood remains a feature of Arnoldi oeuvre, though, since the 1980s, it has often used it in combination with other media. In the 1990s, Arnoldi's output changed radically. He began producing abstract paintings on canvas, first black and white, and then brightly colored. Justice is an example of this free-flowing organic painting. She played herself in the 2005 film, Frank Gehry's Sketch , directed by Sydney Pollack. Arnoldi lives and works in Los Angeles.
