John Downer (1951-) is an American sign painter, typography and logo designer. Downer started his career as a sign painter. Among his most famous digital fonts are Iowan Old Style, Roxy, Triplex Italic, and Brothers.
Downer studied at Washington State University and the University of Iowa. His work is featured among others in the 2014 documentary List of Painters . He has lectured on the type and design of the sign at the conference and at The Cooper Union.
