Paintball Sports Promotion (PSP), is an American national tournament series that travels throughout the United States every year. It is considered one of the most popular paintball leagues. PSP holds five shows across the United States every year. Teams compete according to the level of skills classified into separate divisions. Divisions are distinguished in ascending order as: division IV (D4), division III (D3), division II (D2), division I (D1), and semi-professional/professional (Challenger and Champions division). The season usually starts in March and ends with the championships in October; NXL has re-filled the place the PSP stopped and made their own series and championship events under their new format and rules.

In 2013, the PSP field regulation is 150 feet long by 120 feet wide. Blowing bunkers of various shapes and sizes are placed in the field with a mirror symmetry with a flag in the middle. Each end of the field has a starting area containing the penalty box. Each team consists of five players.
A player is eliminated when they are exposed to broken paintball in body parts or equipment. After elimination players must place their weapons behind their starting station and go to their team deadbox. If a player fails to recognize a hit they run the risk of being punished with varying intensity.
In June 2013, PSP has introduced a new penalty box for professional bracket. The penalty box consists of three flat bunkers that make up the cage. It has two doors, one on each side, with the front blocked. Unlike the traditional penalty box that has one opening up front, this new version prevents punished players from seeing any action on the playing field. This enclosure also prevents the opponent from seeing which side they will exit.

The NXL competition is held in conjunction with the PSP (Paintball Sports Promotions) event. At the beginning of the 2009 season PSP decided to no longer use NXL as their pro bracket.
