Award Category
A total of six awards are given to six puja pandals. When Sharad Shamman started in 1985 only three awards were given to the three Best Puja pandas. From 1994, a special award called "Discovery of the Year" was introduced in honor of a wholly unknown pandal for its excellence. These 4 categories continue for the next six years. But in 2000, Cat Asia felt that the award was too similar, there was no limit to identifying the Best Decorating of the Pandal or the Best Idol. Therefore, in 2000 two new categories were introduced - "Creative Excellence", which focused on the Best Dressed Pandal, and "Best Artist", awarded to Best Idol artist. Currently these six categories represent the Asian Cat Sharad Shamman. Some parameters for the giving of pandals include the overall beauty and grandeur of the pandal based on the chosen theme, the beauty of the Durga protocol, how well the sanctum of the protima has been shown, and the proficiency in the work done on the pandal.
