Independent Baptists churches (some also called Independent Baptist Fundamental , or IFB ) are Christian congregations, which generally adhere to conservative Baptist beliefs ( especially fundamentalists). The term "independent" refers to the doctrinal position of church autonomy and refusal to join an affiliated hierarchical convention or structure.

Histori
The Independent Baptist tradition began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries among local Baptist denominations whose members were concerned about the progress of modernism and liberalism to denominations and national Baptist conventions in the United States and Britain.
In response to these concerns, several local Baptist churches broke away from previous denominations and conventions and rebuilt the sessions as an Independent Baptist church. In other cases, more conservative members of the existing church withdrew from their local congregations and began to set up new independent Baptist churches.
