Pepper Sound Studios was the initial syndicate of the radio station jingle and began around 1957. It started as a record company created by entrepreneur John Pepper and songwriter Floyd Huddleston. Huddleston based his company on the Capitol Records model and even brought Johnny Mercer as a consultant. Composer Al Rinker and Willard Robison were hired, until the end of the recording was finally removed, and in 1964, Pepper Studios exclusively became a Jingle Commercial company. Their first Jingle was for John Pepper's company, Everdry Deodorant, followed by Burke Hall Paint and hundreds more. William Tanner was a salesman for the company and quickly deviated to become one of the company owners, and Pepper and Tanner made Floyd Huddleston out. The company was known as Peppers-Tanner around 1967. In 1972, Bill Tanner cultivated John Pepper in the same way as Huddleston, and the name was changed to The William B. Tanner Company , or just Tanner for the short term.

In 1982, Media General, the owner of a newspaper as well as a broadcasting and cable TV company, bought William B. Tanner Company with cash. David L. Jordan, vice president of Media General, said they were especially interested in Tanner for his programming skills.

Some stations that commissioned jing Pepper Tanner are WPOP, WLIF, WLS, WOLF, WVLK and WPGC.

It was subsequently divested in 1988 and jingle IDs, syndicated scrolls and production libraries of Media General Broadcast Services were acquired by TM studios. The operation of General Media in Memphis was closed and the master backing track and sound library were locked and sent to the TM studio in Dallas. All reference rolls for the Jingles ID syndication and customized production and advertising libraries are discarded in Memphis. TM Studios has placed this scroll in the Prison of Media Preservation Foundation, although copyright is retained by TM Studios. Production libraries are selected and incorporated into various TM Studios libraries that are still sold today through TM and Ben Freedman Productions.
