Pinta âââ ⬠is a drawing and editing program for an open-source, cross-platform bitmap inspired by Paint.NET, a similar image-editing program limited to Microsoft Windows. Pinta has more features than Microsoft Paint. Compared to the open-source GIMP editor, Pinta is simpler and has fewer features.

Features
Pinta is a bitmap image editor with many distinctive features of image editing software including drawing tools, image filters and color adjustment tools. Focus on usability is reflected in some key features of the program:
- Unlimited undo history.
- Support multiple languages.
- Flexible toolbar settings, including floating as a window or sticking around the edges of the image.
Unlike some simple image editing software, Pinta also has support for image layers.

History and development
The development of Pinta began in February 2010 and was encouraged by Jonathan Pobst, then worked at Novell. In September 2011 Pobst announced that he was no longer interested in developing Pinta. The new developer group continues the project.
Pinta is written in C # and uses GTK toolkit and library cairo. Adjustment of code and effect filters, originally derived from Paint.NET but otherwise the project is native code.
