Sally Schwartz, a native of Chicago, is the founder of Randolph Street Market. She is an event specialist, and has previously managed and managed Paint Me A Party Productions, a company-specific event and an incentive travel marketing company. Special Occasion Magazine enrolled companies among the Top 50 Event Planners (citing SE mag, 2002). Schwartz was profiled in the Chicago Sun-Times Business Section in 2000. He has a degree in marketing from Virginia Tech and worked for several years in advertising before forming his own company. Randolph Street Markets started in 2003 as the Chicago Antique Market and grew to add to the Indie Designers section in 2005, Holiday Mart in 2006, and vintage areas and collectibles in 2008.

Summer market
During the summer, May-September, the market displays high-quality goods and food; the market has a monthly theme. The Randolph Street Market Festival is held the last weekend of each month, May to October. Trading hours are on Saturdays and Sundays. Sometimes the market sponsors a special charity preview event on Friday night before market day. The market has been compared to Chelsea Flea Market in New York, Portobello market in London, and the Paris market in Porte de Clignancourt; it is "... an urban antique market reminiscent of that found in Europe and New York City..." wrote Jenniger Winneg at the Chicago Stage Center.
"Memorial Day... marks the beginning of an alfresco shopping season... an outdoor bazaar in the West Loop, a city block full of - 1350 W. Randolph Street, and 1340 W. Washington Street, between Ada Street and Ogden Avenue-- antique, vintage clothing, medieval decorations, and indie handicraft vendors... "the Chicago magazine editor wrote. More than 250 exhibitors and more than 10,000 visitors participated in the festival which is a popular weekend destination for the citizens of Chicago and visitors to the city. This is the largest market of its kind in the Midwest. The Randolph Street Market Festival offers buyers hundreds of boutique rooms presented by dealers, suppliers and designers from multi-country territories.
Indie Designers market boutiques at Randolph Street Market offer a unique Chicago design fashion directly from local designers. Art, jewelry and decorations made by local crafters are also available. The Randolph Street Market festival, including its affiliated market, covers approximately 8.5 acres, over 350,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition space, anchored by the Chicago Plumber's Union, historic Art Deco-style buildings, in the Main Hall and Lower Hall area, and at parking lot around it during the summer.
Buyers find classic furniture, jewelery and fashion, and collectibles along with recently added areas: Vinyl exchange, with rock, jazz, showtunes, and other collection collections and albums. The Luxury Food Market and cocktail area carry luxury items such as artisan chocolates, cookies, bread and other baked goods, olive oil, salsa and other specialty foods. In the area of ââGlobal Goods Bazaar, handicrafts and handicraft items are representative of many Chicago ethnic communities. The 6th Annual Holiday Market of Randolph Street is all indoors and held on the third weekend until November and December. The Holiday Market displays "an example of everything with an emphasis on gifts, entertainment, decoration and clothing," according to market founder Sally Schwartz. The Holiday Market also includes decorations and handicrafts, as well as special meals. The Vinyl Swap Meet, the Global Gifts Bazaar, and the Fancy Food Market are unique holiday items. Market Bar showcases new cocktail ideas for this season.
